Why disinfection is important

NOMOREC

Important messages:
-
When fucking or fisting, wash and disinfect your hands (and forearms) before changing partner or role (top/bottom).
- Clean and disinfect the “play area” as well before changing partner or role (top/bottom).
- Do not share dildos/toys or anal douches. Need to use someone else’s? Then make sure you know how to disinfect these.
- Never use disinfectants on your cock or ass.
- Perfect cleanliness and disinfection won’t always be possible. But better to try than to do nothing at all. Talk to each other about this before having sex.

Why disinfect?

Hepatitis C survives outside the body for longer than HIV. The virus seems able to survive for up to six weeks at room temperature on materials such as steel, plastic and rubber. Lubricant with hepatitis C can also get on your skin while playing.

Good hygiene practices during sex can reduce the risk of transmitting hepatitis C.

When fucking or fisting, there may be hepatitis C lubricant on the following parts of the body:

  • cock
  • pubic hair
  • balls
  • groin
  • hands//forearms
  • butt

Used dildos (or other toys for ass play) can also contain hepatitis C. The virus can also attach itself to nozzles for anal douching.

There may also be lubricant in the area where you play. Avoid lying in it:

  • Clean and disinfect the play area when you change partners or roles.
  • Go to the bathroom to wash your crotch / butt.
  • Wash and disinfect your hands (do both).

Pay attention:

- Never use disinfectants on your cock or butt. Your mucous membranes can be irritated by it.Washing with mild soap (and rinsing thoroughly!) is the maximum you can do with your crotch and ass to reduce the risk of hepatitis C transmission.

- Fisting gloves cover your hand up to the wrist. If you fist past the wrist, lubricant will get onto your forearm. Always wash and disinfect your hands and forearms. Even if you use gloves.

When should you disinfect?

Each time you change partner or change role (top/bottom) you clean and disinfect

  • the play area
  • hands and forearms (after fucking, ass play and fisting)
  • dildos and toys (if you wish to share them)

Which disinfectant?

Not every disinfectant kills hepatitis C. We have made a list of disinfectants that are suitable for killing hepatitis C quickly.

The disinfectants recommended by NoMoreC work quickly and are safe to use. Make sure you always have the following disinfectants at home, and don’t use them for anything they were not made for.

Hands and forearms:

Sterilium® med: - apply for at least 30 seconds

sterilium

Make sure your hands and forearms are clean and dry before using this disinfectant.

The play area:

Dettol® Allesreiniger Spray Sprankelende Citroen-- apply for at least 5 minutes

This product (in a spray bottle) works against hepatitis C. Note: make sure you buy only this bottle and not another Dettol® all-purpose cleaner. There are also wipes from this brand, but these do not work against hepatitis C.

Dildos, toys and nozzles for anal douching:

Bleek

Bleach solution 1:9 (in other  words, 1 litre of household bleach and 9 litres of cold water) – soak dildos/toys or nozzle for at least 5 minutes.

Important to know

Regular Dettol® does NOT work against hepatitis C. This also applies to the wipes from this brand. Only Dettol® Allesreiniger Spray Sprankelende Citroen kills hepatitis C. Use this only for surfaces, not for your toys.

Previously, we recommended 'Blue Wonder® Desinfectie Reiniger Doekjes'. Do NOT use these anymore. Due to a changed composition, these wipes unfortunately no longer work against hepatitis C.

Household alcohol (with an alcohol percentage of 70% or higher) is also not strong enough against hepatitis C.

There are disinfectants based on alcohol on the market, but these have the disadvantage of being intoxicating when used on large surfaces. If someone lights a cigarette during cleaning with alcohol, there is also a risk of fire and explosion.

Always use cold water to prepare the chlorine solution for your dildos/toys and douche nozzle. Warm water produces chlorine fumes more quickly. Chlorine also works better and lasts longer with cold water. Always prepare the solution in a well-ventilated area (not in the playroom).

Chlorine does not damage your dildos/toys and they will not discolor, as long as you do not leave them in the chlorine solution for hours. Always rinse thoroughly with water. This prevents irritation to your anus when a dildo/toy or douche nozzle is reused.

Never use disinfectants on your penis or anus. Your mucous membranes can become irritated, which increases the risk of contracting hepatitis C. Washing with mild soap or wash gel and rinsing well is the maximum you can do there to remove lubricant residues.

Attention: In the instructional video for the play area, we still use 'Blue Wonder® Desinfectie Reiniger Doekjes'. Do NOT use these anymore. Due to a changed composition, these wipes unfortunately no longer work against hepatitis C.

Instead of Blue Wonder® wipes, use Dettol® Allesreiniger Spray Sprankelende citroen. Please read the instructions above.

It is important to remember that

- hepatitis C can hide under grease and lube. Disinfection is pointless if you don’t wash or clean everything thoroughly first.

- the surface or your skin has to be dried after cleaning. It needs to be completely dry for the disinfectant to work effectively.
